Looking back at 2017 and feeling excited about the future....

A post on the Flowerona blog has inspired me to write my Roses, Thorns and Buds... Roses being my highlights, Thorns being lessons learnt and Buds looking forward to the future. So here are my reflections on 2017 and plans for 2018....

Roses...

  •  Invested in learning and attended the one week wedding flower career course with Jay Archer, together with both the Spring and Aurtumn, 3 weddings in 3 days courses with Sabine Darrell. Also, the 3 day wedding planning workshop with Planning Redeined in London and a wedding styling workshop with the UK Alliance of Wedding Planners.

  • Visited the new Covent Garden flower market

  • Travelled to Italy with Aspire Photography training for their Italian Retreat at the Count Ceconi Castle. I created the bouquets for the wedding styled shoots

  • Published on the English Wedding blog with the Italian Retreat styled shoot.

  • Created the floral pieces for two Aspire Photography training Urban Rascal courses in London

  • Visited local flower growers

  • Vistited Amsterdam, to the flower auctions, growers and exporters in Holland

  • Created the floral arrangments for a wedding styled shoot with Aspire Photographic training in Cumbria.

  • This styled shoot has since been published on the English Wedding Blog.

  • Decorated the Pol Roger champagne bar at Burghley Horse Trials

  • Coordinated and created my own wedding styled shoot with Ryan Jarvis Photography

  • My floral creations and images featured on the front cover of Stamford Living magazine - both February and April isssues.

  • Part of the English Wedding blog's briliant bouquets for 2018 feature

  • Organised and conducted my first Christmas wreath workshop at the Cosy Club in Stamford

  • Travelled to Vietnam as part of a two week photography tour.

  • And thats without all of my gorgeous weddings of 2017.... Without you, none of this would be possible.

Thorns...

  • Working 6 days a week in the shop, plus admin on a Sunday has had an impact on my health and wellbeings, not to mention any social life.

  • 2017 has seen my biggest adjustment and decsion to close the high street shop in Stamford to concentrate on my wedding business.

  • The financial side of running a small high street business, the rent and rates.... I am a creative person and so accounts are not something I enjoy, even with a great book keeper and accountant. It is still stressful and I have learnt that I do not need a high street location to run a successful wedding business.

Buds...

  • Launching my new wedding planning and styling business as an extension of my wedding floristry services.

  • Travelling to New York in November with a group of photographers.

  • Attend the RHS flower shows

  • Love to spend more time with my camera

  • Complete my Foundation Degree course in Professional Floristry and Floral Design

  • And finally, I am so excited for my couples this year and the gorgeous weddings we are part of.

Wishing you all a very Happy New Year...
